Vision.

What are we aspiring to be as a church?

We are aspiring to be a faithful one.

Heritage Hill Baptist Church is being planted with a simple desire: to establish a healthy local church that is deeply rooted in God’s Word, centered on the gospel, serious about making disciples, committed to life together, and eager to live sent and multiply.

We want to receive the faith that has been entrusted to us, live it faithfully in our generation, and pass it on to those who come after us.

In short, we are praying for: Deep Roots, Faithful Lives, A Lasting Heritage.

_________

We long for Heritage Hill to be:

A Church Centered on the Gospel

We believe the good news of Jesus is not merely the doorway into the Christian life.

It is the foundation and fuel of the whole Christian life.

The gospel shapes how we worship, work, parent, forgive, suffer, serve, give, repent, and live.

We want Heritage Hill to be a church where people never “move on” from the gospel, but grow deeper in understanding and living in light of what Jesus has done.

A Church Deeply Rooted in God’s Word

We want to build on something stronger than trends, personalities, preferences, or programs.

We want to build on the Word of God.

That means we want Scripture to shape what we believe, how we worship, how we organize the church, how we make disciples, how we care for one another, and how we live in the world.

We also want to learn from the faithful Christians and churches who have gone before us.

We are not interested in constantly reinventing Christianity.

We want deep roots in God’s Word and in the historic Christian faith.

A Church That Makes Disciples Who Make Disciples

Following Jesus means helping others follow Jesus.

We want every member of Heritage Hill to be growing as a disciple of Jesus and helping someone else do the same.

That means discipleship will not simply be a program offered by the church.

It will be part of the culture of the church.

We want people reading the Bible together.

Praying together.

Confessing sin.

Encouraging one another.

Sharing meals.

Having meaningful spiritual conversations.

Helping new believers grow.

And intentionally investing in the lives of others.

Our hope is not simply to gather a crowd.

Our hope is to make faithful disciples of Jesus.

A Church Where People Are Known

We do not want Heritage Hill to be a place where people attend anonymously.

We believe the local church should be a family where people are known, loved, challenged, cared for, and equipped.

That means we want to take church membership seriously.

We want to share life together.

We want to open our homes.

Bear one another’s burdens.

Celebrate together.

Grieve together.

Practice hospitality.

Serve one another.

Forgive one another.

And help one another faithfully follow Jesus.

We believe some of the most important ministry in a healthy church happens not on a stage, but around dinner tables, in living rooms, in conversations, and in the ordinary rhythms of life.

A Church That Takes the Local Church Seriously

We believe Jesus loves His church, and so we want to take the church seriously too.

Jesus rules His church through His Word.

Qualified elders shepherd and lead the church.

Deacons serve the practical needs of the church.

And the members of the church bear real responsibility for the doctrine, membership, discipline, mission, and life of the church together.

We want Heritage Hill to be marked by:

  • Faithful expositional preaching

  • Meaningful church membership

  • Biblical church discipline

  • Qualified elders

  • Faithful deacons

  • Congregational responsibility

  • Believer’s baptism

  • The Lord’s Supper

  • Prayer

  • Discipleship

  • Evangelism

  • Mission

We do not want church structure to be driven primarily by what is efficient or popular.

We want it shaped by what we believe Scripture teaches a church to be.

A Church That Lives Sent

We believe every Christian is sent by Jesus.

Mission is not simply something a few people do overseas.

It is part of the identity of every follower of Jesus.

God has already placed us in neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, friendships, families, sports teams, coffee shops, and communities.

We want to help one another see those ordinary places as part of the mission field God has given us.

We want Heritage Hill to be a church where members naturally ask:

  • Who has God placed around me?

  • Who can I pray for?

  • Who can I invite to my table?

  • Who can I serve?

  • Who can I share the gospel with?

  • Who can I help take their next step toward Jesus?

  • We want to gather as a church so that we can be equipped and sent back out.

A Church Built to Multiply

We do not simply want Heritage Hill to grow larger.

We want to multiply what God gives us.

That means developing disciples.

Raising up leaders.

Training pastors.

Sending missionaries.

Developing church planters.

Supporting other churches.

And, Lord willing, helping plant more healthy churches across North Texas and into the nations.

We want multiplication to be part of our DNA from the beginning.

Our hope is that Heritage Hill would not simply leave a legacy in one congregation, but would help strengthen and start churches far beyond us.

A Church Measured by Faithfulness

There are many ways churches can measure success: in attendance, in their budget, in meeting needs in the surrounding community, etc.

The question is: how will we?

We want people to come to faith in Christ and we want the church to grow.

But we do not want numbers alone to define whether we are successful.

We want to ask deeper questions.

  • Are people trusting and following Jesus?

  • Are Christians growing in godliness?

  • Are members making disciples?

  • Are we loving one another well?

  • Are we faithfully proclaiming the gospel?

  • Are we raising up leaders?

  • Are we living on mission?

  • Are we becoming the kind of church Scripture calls us to be?

We want to pursue fruitfulness while leaving the results to God. Our responsibility is faithfulness.

These Distinctives are the kind of Heritage we want to Build.

A church centered on the gospel.

Rooted deeply in God’s Word.

Filled with people who make disciples.

Marked by meaningful life together.

Ordered according to Scripture.

Sent into everyday life.

And eager to multiply whatever God gives.

We know we will not build this perfectly.

But by God’s grace, this is the kind of church we want to spend our lives building.

And this is the kind of church we are inviting others to help establish.

Every church has a first generation. Maybe God is calling you to be part of ours.
